Backrooms-inspired 3D film
PlaceholderA surreal film that places live-action footage inside Blender-built spaces — familiar school corridors and invented rooms that feel slightly wrong.
Overview
A surreal film combining live-action footage with environments built in Blender.
Some environments recreate school corridors; others are fictional spaces designed to establish an unsettling atmosphere.
Intended responsibilities
- Editing
- Blender environment creation
- Camera tracking, rotoscoping and compositing
- Sound design
Concept
The unease comes from recognition: spaces close enough to real places that the viewer trusts them, built just far enough off to stop feeling safe.
Process
- 01
Environment creation
Corridors and fictional spaces are modelled, lit and textured in Blender.
- 02
Tracking and roto
Live-action plates are camera tracked so the 3D environments sit under the real camera move; performers are rotoscoped out.
- 03
Compositing
Plates and renders are combined and matched in After Effects.
- 04
Sound design
Room tone and texture build the atmosphere the picture sets up.
